Course Introduction

This course provides participants with essential knowledge and practical skills on Hazard Communication (HazCom), Chemical Safety, and the Globally Harmonized System (GHS). It ensures compliance with OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200), the UN GHS framework, and UAE OSHAD-SF requirements.

Participants will learn to classify hazardous chemicals, interpret labels, pictograms, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and implement control measures to reduce risks. The program combines regulatory knowledge with hands-on application, preparing employees, supervisors, and safety officers to manage chemical hazards and respond to emergencies.

  • Identify hazardous chemicals and recognize their physical, health, and environmental risks.
  • Interpret and apply hazard communication tools including GHS pictograms, signal words, hazard statements, and precautionary statements.
  • Read and utilize Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in the 16-section format to ensure safe handling and compliance.
  • Conduct basic chemical risk assessments and recommend appropriate control measures (engineering, administrative, PPE).
  • Implement safe practices for storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous chemicals in workplace environments.
  • Respond appropriately to chemical incidents such as spills, leaks, or exposure emergencies.
  • Promote a culture of safety and compliance within the organization through effective hazard communication.
