Course Introduction
The OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER course is required for workers involved in uncontrolled hazardous waste operations, emergency response, and clean-up activities where there is a high risk of exposure to hazardous substances.
This training provides participants with in-depth regulatory knowledge, hands-on practical skills, and advanced site safety procedures, ensuring they can safely perform duties at hazardous waste sites and meet OSHA’s compliance requirements.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
- Understand the OSHA HAZWOPER Standard (29 CFR 1910.120) in detail.
- Identify and evaluate hazardous substances and their risks.
- Conduct site characterization, risk assessment, and hazard monitoring.
- Develop and implement Site Safety and Health Plans (SSHPs).
- Select, use, and maintain appropriate PPE and respiratory protection (Levels A–D).
- Apply spill containment, control, and decontamination procedures.
- Respond effectively to emergencies involving hazardous materials.
- Operate within the Incident Command System (ICS) during emergencies.
- Promote a culture of compliance, safety, and health protection.
